Yesterday was awesome; actually, this whole week has been amazing. First, Alexis and Derek of Sleigh Bells came by my studio for a shoot for Nylon. They were rad and had good music which always get things moving. Can’t wait until their record comes out. Some polaroids below.
Then, my good friend Louis Abelman came over to have dinner and we did some portraits. He works at The New York Times and is a documentary filmmaker. We had fried chicken again. This is going to be on the jacket of his first novel. Anyway, the images came out nice and were Interview Magazine / Irving Penn inspired.

L.A. Polaroids

Here are some Polaroid 600 photos during my visit. I didn’t get many chances to use my 680SE. It was a busy two weeks, but here are a few that I like. During my stay in L.A., I went to thrift stores and found two identical Polaroid SUN 600 LMS Land Cameras with packs still in them and one Captiva SLR, the grey flip-up one which used to take ultra wide 95 film. Now I need to get Fuji Instapax film and see if the little guy works.

New Studio

In hopes of moving forward and onward, the new studio is almost complete. It’s been a long month of packing and unpacking but I think it’s going to be over soon. Almost ready to get back to work.

Lunch at Scarpetta at 355 West 14th St. in the Meat Packing District. Amazing.

Chef Scott Conant prepared a great sampling of what Scarpetta is all about. Lunch started with the Roasted Beet and La Tur Salad with organic yellow and red beets, endive, radicchio, and trucioleto vinaigrette. Next, he served the Duck and Foie Gras Ravioli in a marsala reduction, insane. And finally, I tried the forever-classic Spaghetti with Tomato and Basil. Simple but prepared nicely. Good times.

Saturday, I met up with Evan Rock for some music in the park.
Gang Gang Dance, Black Dice, and Battles were all playing so I figured, sure.
While I’m not one to go to see shows at Central Park Summerstage, it seemed worth it.
My interest in Black Dice started, seeing them perform at Fort Thunder in Providence.
I found out about Battles years ago when the Battles EP-C record was given to me
by a friend because he knew I’d like the cover. He said it reminded
him of a polaroid I took in Mexico near La Fonda in 2000.

Here are the two:

Anyway, B+T is the jam. And here are some photos from the show:
