As soon as I got to their house, the first things I noticed were the changes between floors and all the new pieces acquired since my last visit. The “inspiration room” really felt like walking into an exhibit at the Museum of Jurassic Technology or a curiosities shop from a hundred years ago but as cozy as a home could ever be. The fencing mask with the top hat is still my all time favorite combination of pieces. So weird. These are the photos that the New York TImes missed.

Restless People led off the night with their second show of the day for the True Panther showcase at Piano’s. Restless People killed it, followed by equally amazing sets by Janka Nabay, Glasser, Delorean, and Lemonade, respectively. I’m not really a fan of live performance photographs but if anything, it’s a good exercise. Josh Haner, a staff photographer for the New York Times, was also there at the show, and he does it much better. Check out his CMJ portfolios on the New York Times website. His photo of Delorean is below. Lastly, I’d like to thank Dean for curating one of the best shows of the week.

My friend Louis Abelman (pictured above) works at The New York Times. Last week, he left for Kabul, Afghanistan to research and shoot a potential documentary feature. A few years ago, he travelled to Africa, to the Democratic Republic of Congo to shoot a documentary called LUMO: One Woman’s Struggle to Heal in a Nation Beset by War, which he produced and co-directed.

In Kabul, he’s been shooting with a Canon G9 and has been updating his travel blog, continually adding new photographs and stories about his findings in Afghanistan. I read it to make sure that he’s safe and doing well. Please check it out:
